Rooted, The High Line Network’s 2024 Symposium brought together over 250 leaders in infrastructure reuse to explore equitable public space development. Hosted in Detroit, the Symposium highlighted community-centered practices through panels, workshops, and tours. Attendees gained actionable insights into centering equity, honoring local histories, and fostering resilient communities. By showcasing Detroit’s innovative public spaces and grassroots leadership, the event emphasized the transformative power of public spaces to catalyze social, environmental, and economic equity.
Over 70 Speakers, 10 Workshops, and 10 Tour Locations
Rooted included speakers and workshop leaders from across the US, Canada, and Mexico with a strong focus on Detroit-based practitioners. Half of each day was dedicated to park and site visits around Detroit and its riverfront, showcasing a broad variety of community-oriented work.
